You Have A Friend Mentoring Program

The “You Have A Friend” Mentoring Program was developed for Atchison County area youth to provide one-on-one mentoring relationships with caring adults. The program is designed to aggressively participate in school dropout prevention, improve academic performance of students, and assist in alleviating social problems as they affect the success of our youth.

The program matches adult volunteers (mentors) with youth ages 5-17 who would benefit from extra attention and guidance at no cost to the youth or their families. The goal of this friendship is to help the child by exposing him/her to new learning experiences, help strengthen self-esteem and help the child with the tough job of growing up. Volunteers may vary in interests, education, profession, and personality, but all share a commitment to helping children.
